Relativity Media (sometimes written as RelativityMedia and Relativity) is an American independent motion picture production and investment company based in West Hollywood, California.

Company[]

The company's first production credit was with the short film Jerry vs. Death in 2005 and their first major feature film credit with RV in 2006. In 2008, the company began agreements with Sony Pictures and Universal Studios to co-finance its films until 2015.[1][2]

Since December 2008, Relativity Media are the owners of Rogue Pictures, Universal's former Focus Features subsidiary. With this deal, Relativity has acquired Rogue’s entire library, with more than 30 projects in development and ownership of its producing deals. The first picture set for release under this new deal was writer/director David S. Goyer’s new horror film, The Unborn, produced by Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes production company. Universal also continues to distribute Rogue's films.[3]

In July 2010, Relativity Media took over the distribution and marketing operations and some assets of the Starz Overture Films subsidiary. Approximately 45 staff members, or two-thirds of Overture's employees, will make the move to Relativity Media, including Peter Adee, formerly Overture Films' President of Worldwide Marketing, Distribution and New Media, and Kyle Davies, Executive Vice President Theatrical Distribution.[4]

In January 2011, Relativity had Steve Bertram, formerly the President of Business Operations for Paramount Home Entertainment, come on board as COO and CFO.[5]
